MomentClip MCP server

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and other AI apps to your MomentClip account with the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The app can search your library of analyzed videos, analyze new YouTube videos, ask questions with timestamped answers, get transcripts and download clips, all as you.

Server URL

https://momentclip.com/mcp

Included with Pro and Scale. Last updated: October 2026.

Set it up

Every app signs in to MomentClip with OAuth in your browser, so there are no API keys to copy. If you are signed in, your connected apps page has the same steps.

  1. 1In Claude (web or desktop), open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. 2Name it MomentClip and paste the server URL.
  3. 3Choose Connect, sign in to MomentClip and approve access. In a chat, turn MomentClip on from the connectors menu.

What you can ask

  • Review what you have analyzed

“What did I analyze in MomentClip recently? List each video and the moments it found.”

  • Find a moment and get the clip

“Analyze https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIKmSQqp8wY for moments where lava fills the Moon's basins, then download the best one.”

  • Pull quotes with citations

“In my interview videos, find where they talk about pricing and give me each quote with a timestamped link.”

  • Get subtitles

“Get the transcript of my latest analyzed video as SRT.”

  • Discover videos to analyze

“Search YouTube for recent conference keynotes about video search and show me the five most watched.”

Here is the first prompt in our own testing, run in Claude Code against a MomentClip test library. Claude called list_analyses, then get_analysis for each finished video, followed the page cursor where a video had more moments, and answered with entries like:

NASA | Evolution of the Moon (NASA Goddard, 2:42). Prompt: “Moments where something is explained visually”.
0:16–2:30 Animation of the Moon's geological history and formation
0:30–1:17 Audio with explosion, impacts, rumbling and lava bubbling

How it uses your account

  • An app acts as you: it sees only your analyses, clips and downloads, and starts work on your plan.
  • Anything it starts uses the same allowances as the website. Repeating a question, re-downloading a clip and keyword search cost nothing.
  • Apps that start work send a request id, so a retried request returns the same job instead of charging twice.
  • On the connected apps page you can turn off an app's allowance use (it stays able to read your library) or disconnect it entirely.

Monthly allowances reset on the 1st and daily ones at midnight (UTC). A visual question, which watches the video instead of reading its transcript, uses one analysis. One call can analyze up to 5 videos or download up to 20 clips.

Tools

Apps pick these on their own; you only need to describe what you want. All times are in seconds.

Read your library

Needs a Pro or Scale plan. Never uses an allowance.

get_accountYour MomentClip plan, billing status and this month's remaining allowances (analyses, clip downloads, stand-alone transcripts).
list_analysesYour video analyses, newest first: status, video, prompt.
get_analysisOne analysis with its status and the moments it found (10 per page, with start/end seconds, title and description).
list_videosDistinct videos in your library with their latest analysis.
get_videoA video in your library: its analyses, saved clip count, and whether a transcript and chapters are available.
get_transcriptA cached transcript page (up to 100 segments) as timed segments or txt/srt/vtt/csv.
get_chaptersYouTube chapters generated for a video.
list_clipsClips from one analysis, or your saved clips when analysisId is omitted, with any trims, tags and notes.
list_exportsYour clip downloads and recent zip packages, with download links for completed ones.
list_promptsSearch prompts you have saved or used recently.
get_jobStatus of a job returned by a start tool (analysis, download, package, transcript, chapters).
list_jobsYour running jobs and the 10 most recently finished ones.

Start work

Uses an allowance or an AI model call, so it needs a paid-up plan and the app's allowance switch on.

analyze_videosAnalyze 1 to 5 YouTube videos for the moments a prompt describes (topic, dialogue or something visual).
export_clipsMake 1080p downloads of up to 20 clips: one mp4 per clip, or a zip with clips, subtitles and a CSV index.
search_momentsFind moments by meaning (semantic, default) or exact words (keyword) in one analyzed video, or search the words of every transcript in your library when youtubeVideoId is omitted.
ask_videoAsk a question about one of your analyzed videos and get an answer with timestamp citations.
create_clipMake a new clip (up to 10 minutes) in one of your analyzed videos from start/end seconds, for example around a search_moments match.
repair_clip_labelsRegenerate the evidence-checked title and description for up to 20 of your clips.
request_transcriptMake a transcript for any YouTube video.
generate_chaptersGenerate YouTube chapters (timestamps and titles) from a video's captions.
search_youtubeSearch YouTube for videos to analyze.
list_channel_videosVideos from a YouTube channel (URL or @handle), optionally filtered by a search query.

Edit your library

Saving, trimming, tagging and notes. Needs a paid-up plan.

update_clipSave a clip to your library (or unsave it with saved:false), trim it with start/end seconds or clearTrim, and set its tags (replaces them) and notes.
save_promptSave a search prompt to reuse later.
delete_promptDelete one of your saved prompts.

Staying in control

  • Keep your app's tool approval on, so you see each analysis or download before it runs.
  • Be careful when one chat combines MomentClip with other servers or web pages: text from them could try to steer the app into using your allowances.
  • MomentClip cannot delete analyses through MCP, and nothing an app does changes your subscription or billing.

Troubleshooting

When a tool refuses, the app sees one of these codes with a plain-language message.

CodeMeaningWhat to do
subscription_requiredNo paid-up Pro or Scale plan, or a payment needs fixing.Subscribe or update billing on your account page.
spending_disabledThis app's Can use allowances switch is off.Turn it on for that app on the connected apps page.
connection_disconnectedYou disconnected this app.Reconnect it on the connected apps page.
allowance_exhaustedThis month's analyses, downloads or transcripts are used up.Allowances reset on the 1st (UTC); check with get_account.
not_foundThe video, analysis or clip isn't in your library.Analyze the video first, or check the id.
invalid_argumentsA tool input was missing or the wrong type. The message says which input; the app usually retries on its own.

If sign-in loops or the app reports an authorization error, remove the MomentClip server from the app, add it again and sign in once more.

FAQ

Do I need a subscription?
Yes. The MCP server is part of the Pro and Scale plans. Without one, apps can still connect and read your plan status with get_account, and every other tool explains that a subscription is needed.
Does it cost extra?
No. Anything an app does uses the same monthly allowances as the website: analyses, clip downloads and stand-alone transcripts. Reading your library, keyword search and re-downloading a clip are free.
Can I stop an app from using my allowances?
Yes. On the connected apps page, turn off Can use allowances for that app. It can still read your library but cannot start analyses, downloads, transcripts or searches that cost an allowance.
How do I disconnect an app?
Open your account's connected apps page at momentclip.com/account/mcp and choose Disconnect. The app is refused on its next call. You can reconnect it from the same page.
Why does an analysis return a job instead of moments?
Analyzing a video usually takes one to three minutes. Tools that start work return a job; the app waits with get_job, which holds for up to 20 seconds per call, then reads the result.
Can an app see other people's videos?
No. Analyses, clips, saved clips and downloads are only ever your own. Transcripts and chapters that MomentClip has already made are shared, as they are on the website.
